If you’re spending a lot of time indoors due to cold temperatures or snow and ice, you’re most likely finding it the perfect excuse to keep a cozy fire burning for eco-friendly warmth. The good news is that you’ve got a perfect burning material to use, recycled from your own driveway! We’re talking about new uses for newspapers like recycling them by turning them into paper logs.
Simply roll newspaper sheets around a broom stick until your log is the desired size, then soak it in water all the way through. Dry your craft projects overnight, then use like ordinary wood as a perfect fire starter. When your fire goes out, remember that you can uses the ashes too!
Save your ashes from the cozy wood-burning fireplace and use them in your compost heap. Mixing cold ashes in with the existing contents helps to create a fabulous soil addition that will provide valuable nutrients to your garden!
