CAÑO NEGRO NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
If you’ve ever dreamed of taking a trip down the Amazon, a boat ride through this vast network of marshes and rivers 62 miles north of La Fortuna is an affordable alternative. I almost wish I hadn’t seen the picture of the hot springs because now I know the amazingness I have been missing out on for 24 years.

I saw all of these places when I was in Costa Rica a decade ago – what an amazing country to travel around!
Great list! I’ve done the first two on your list. I also LOVED seeing the sea turtles nesting – watching a leather-back lay her eggs was an incredible experience. I was supposed to volunteer for a week but unfortunately the road were washed out.
Yet another list of places I need to visit! The list grows longer everyday

Awww those are some great ones! I just got back from Costa Rica last night, and this made me even sadder to be back. I have such a love affair with that place!
Those hot springs sound amazing!! I’m always looking for hot springs like this, but most of the time (at least in the U.S.) they’re channeled into a fancy spa or run down building. I want to be in nature and enjoy them, y’know?

Awesome! I’ve been to Monteverde, but not the other places. I need to go back! I lived there for three months doing volunteer work but didn’t get much of an opportunity to travel
I’s funny, I’ve been to Costa Rica twice now, and I love different parts of the country for different reasons. So much biodiversity, and so much to do! I imagine even 3 month wouldn’t be enough to see it all.
