Green Travel Reviews Launch

Is This the Proper Way to Format a Blog Birth Announcement?

Announcing Green Travel Reviews

(& Great Prize Giveaways)!

When most people start having kids, they tend to wait a few years in between babies to give the first one time to develop. So perhaps it’s not entirely coincidental that we’re launching our second website, Green Travel Reviews, just one month shy of Green Global Travel‘s 3-year anniversary.

Last year was incredible for us: In just over 12 months, we traveled to the Galapagos Islands, Yellowstone, the Peruvian Amazon, Bermuda, Panama, Dominica, New York, Jordan, Churchill, Ft. Lauderdale, Chilean Patagonia, and Antarctica. In that time, GGT went from a few thousand to more than 35,000 unique visitors a month, and emerged as the biggest independent ecotourism/conservation blog in the world.

But, as we took time over the holidays to reflect on our insane 2012, we realized that our lives had gotten out of balance. We missed my daughter, our dog, our home and our friends. And since our intense travel schedule didn’t leave much time for freelance work, we also missed about 1/3 of our annual income!

So this year we’ve been more focused on building up the business side of GGT. Earlier this year we launched our Amazon affiliate program, where we make a small percentage on every purchase at no additional cost to you. This summer we launched EcoAdventure Media, through which we offer bespoke content generation and social media services for eco-friendly businesses. And last month we launched GGT’s Blogging Mentorship Program, offering customized 1-on-1 guidance for bloggers looking to take their business to the next level.

While those ventures help businesses and bloggers, we always want to put the needs of our readers first. By far the most frequent questions we get from people are about where they should go and what they should do when they travel. After doing a little research, we realized there was a huge void in practical advice for people who want to live and travel more sustainably.

To that end, Green Travel Reviews is dedicated to reviews of Green Hotels, Eco-Tours, Restaurants, Green Living Products and Travel Gear. We’ll only review places, tours, and products that we personally recommend. In the future, we hope to add travel planning services to our offerings, and we may eventually branch off into working with eco-tour operators we respect and leading tours ourselves.
